Seasonal Chapters
Salt & Steel runs in seasonal “chapters.”
We Wipe Deep Sea Monthly and don’t have a planned mainland wipe date scheduled. Why?
Because mainland wipes should serve the community — not a schedule.
Going completely “no wipe” never works – Why?
- Facepunch eventually always drops some major update or change that necessitates a server wipe.
- While our main map is big and AWESOME – It will eventually grow stale.
When the season grows stale, major updates drop, or balance needs resetting, the world and community will turn the page.
Each season is a story. Each Mainland wipe is a new campaign shaped by the community.
Why No Guns?
Early-wipe bow fights are some of the most fun Rust has to offer.
But they’re usually over in the first hour.
Primitive combat keeps everyone inside the same ceiling and preserves that early game fun.
- Positioning matters.
- Strategy matters.
- Teamwork matters.
- Skill matters.
Time spent still helps — but it doesn’t instantly decide the outcome.
On land, combat is close, deliberate, tactical.
At sea, cannons rule. Risk escalates. Power must be earned.
That tension — that contrast — is the heart of Salt & Steel.
